Ready in 10 minutes
Materials you’ll need
• White tissue paper
• Washable markers (normal markers will work too)
• A small paintbrush
• Water
• A glue stick
• Scissors
• A green marker or crayon for stems and leaves
Step-by-step instructions
Cut the tissue paper: Cut several circles from the white tissue paper. The size of the circle will determine the final size of your flower.
Color the petals: Use a marker to draw a circle of color around the outer edge of each tissue paper circle. You can use different colors for each flower, as shown in the picture.
Create effect: Dip a paintbrush in water and gently touch the colored ring you just drew. The water will cause the color to bleed and spread inward, creating a soft, watercolor-like effect for the petals.
Add the center: Once the paper is dry, use a yellow marker to draw a small circle or a few dots in the center of the paper.
Assemble the layers: Take 3 or 4 of the colored, dry tissue paper circles. Use a glue stick to put a small dab of glue in the center of one circle and press another one on top. Repeat until all your layers are stacked.
Add stems and leaves: Use a green marker to draw a stem and some leaves directly onto the paper underneath the flowers.
Finally, glue the finished flower onto the front of a blank card to create a personalized, handmade greeting card for a birthday, Mother’s Day, or any special occasion.
