Rose Laddoo

Indian sweets or mishti are an integral part of any festive celebration. These pretty laddoos add the perfect touch of fun with tradition. They are sure to brighten up your festivities.

Ingredients

  • Full fat milk – 1 litre
  • Heavy Cream – ½ cup
  • Rose Syrup – 2 tablespoons
  • Condensed Milk – ½ cup or Sugar – 1/3 cup
  • Rose Water – 1 teaspoon
  • Vinegar – 1 ½ tablespoon
  • Cardamom powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Chopped Pistachios or almonds

Method

First, make the chenna. Heat milk in a pan on medium heat until it comes to a boil. Turn off the heat and cool for a minute. Slowly add the vinegar in the milk until it curdles. Now drain the curdled milk in a muslin cloth. Wash the chenna with water to remove the vinegar smell. Squeeze the cloth and hang it for an hour to drain excess water. Add the chenna to a plate and knead it thoroughly with your hands to make it smooth.

Next, add the heavy cream to a pan and let it cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat. Add the chenna, rose syrup, condensed milk or sugar. Mix everything with a spatula on low heat. Keep stirring continuously till it starts leaving the sides of the pan. Add cardamom powder, some chopped pistachios and rose water. Mix and continue to stir for around 20-30 minutes. It is done when it comes together as a dough. Transfer to a plate and let it cool for 5 minutes. Add some more pistachios and mix. Grease your palm with a little ghee and start rolling into small laddoos. Depending on the size, you will make 10-15 laddoos. You can garnish with rose petals or chopped nuts on top. Enjoy these little treats!
