One day, there was a stag by a pond, drinking water. The stag had a majestic copper brown coat and eyes as black as the night itself. The stag had big, thick, strong antlers that gleamed in the sunlight while the dark chocolate colour stood out amongst the rest of the stag’s body. However, the stag had infirm and thin legs. The stag was complimenting how strong his dark brown antlers were and prided himself on the fact that he had immense antlers. On the other hand, he felt ashamed of his legs, exclaiming and seeing how thin they were and was upset and unhappy that he possessed such legs.

‘So, there is the stag! I shall soon have his antlers!’ whispered a person sidling about and hiding behind a thick, green bush. Armed with a gun, he spotted the stag while he was drinking water. While he was aiming the gun on it, the stag noticed him and took off at high speed while shrieking in terror and surprise. Out of the blue, he came up and collided against a bush of thorns. Panicking, he tried to search for a way out but in vain. The hunter then closed up on it, a wicked smile on his face as he aimed the gun on the stag. It still tried searching for a way out, frantically moving his legs out for escape while his eyes widened in fear, dread and consternation, believing that these were the last moments of his life. However, he found a gap in the bush. Using his legs, he widened the gap in the hole until it was enough for him to pass through. He gave a wide smile as he went past the hole at the speed of lightning and was free from the bush. His eyes twinkled as he was free from the bush, knowing that he could be alive and that his life would not be ended by a hunter’s gun. The happiness and contentment could be seen dancing in his eyes as he sprinted off from the bush away from the wicked hunter. The hunter cried ‘Oh blow it!’ as he watched the deer sprinting off into the deeper part of the forest to his freedom. Frustration boiled inside of him as he thought how victorious he would be if he caught the prestigious copper brown stag. He would feel victorious, triumphant and would be regarded as one of the greatest hunters in his area. But no, his dreams washed away with the deer as they slowly started leaking out of him.

The deer, meanwhile, was joyous beyond words when he broke free from the clutches of death. He exclaimed ‘My antlers have stood out and caught the notice of the hunter and almost had me killed. However, the legs which I had detested had saved my life!’ And so it did, as the stag galloped happily, leaving the hunter dejected.
